Audio for film and television
 

 

Having worked in feature film and television audio for over thirty years I decided it was high time to document my experiences for any one who’s interested in learning about this wonderfully creative department in the film making industry. Although I studied post production audio in my late teens, ninety percent of what is presented here has been derived from hands on working experience. After thirty two years in film audio I realized that the knowledge one gains is mainly due to the myriad of mistakes one has learnt from and thus now with this book you can learn from them to.

 

This book is not highly technical, in that it does not deal with studio acoustic design, audio physics, or complex mathematical equations, for there are plenty of other texts available that do deal with these subjects. So I’ve tried to keep technical specs to a minimum and have focused more on the creative side of the process, which at the end of the day is more interesting and exciting.

 

Nothing gives me greater professional pleasure than to witness the play back of a feature film’s final mix, knowing that I contributed months of work to make it all possible and more importantly, creatively successful.  Whether it be a big budget feature film, or a simple magazine program for television, if you have a love for your craft the rewards can be very satisfying.
